Been a member for a few years now. Usually go camping 2 times a year. Sometimes visit different and new places and use camp photos to help choose the right site. This is a great resource for those that want to see the campsite they want before they choose. One or two improvements I would love to see in the future would be a rough site plan with dimensions sort of like a floorplan to a house so you can see not only how deep the site is but width too. Also would like to get a rating on how flat the sites are. I've been to some campgrounds where the sites were really off camber and made it hard to set up tables and cook. Overall this is a wonderful resource!

Used to love this site used it daily. Was awesome because I don’t do Facebook, I could see cancellations and take advantage of them. This year I was charged $27.00 and got basically nothing. This site is now useless to a person who isn’t on social media. Unable to even see any cancellations let alone book them. Very sad

This web site is the best single source for camping information we have found for NY State Parks. All of the information we have garnered here has been accurate and, in some cases, more up to date than reserveamerica. Photos are extremely helpful for site selection and, as paddlers, we especially appreciate the lakeside experience rating. In addition to the info and photos, we have enjoyed waterfront sites at our favorite campgrounds thanks to the cancellation alert feature. Finally, there is a knowledgeable and welcoming camping community that has grown around this site. Thank you Dave et al for all you do.

Not sure what happened to my base pro portion of my subscription. But, I was getting all the cancellation information and then I renewed my subscription. After that, basecamp pro wasn’t available anymore, it’s been disabled, and I can’t get any info out this site anymore. Basically, I have first tier membership now with no way of accessing cancellation notices anymore. Waste of $27…

Dave, Your site; insights, tips, & campsite photos continue to blow us away! 3 years ago, as new campers finding any available site seemed overwhelming, impossible. I was regretting our decision to purchase a camper for weekend getaways/exploring. That day, at the dentist, when CampADK was recommended to me was the luckiest of all days! My wife and I enjoy Base Camp a great deal, We have a 35 foot motorhome and we love to camp in many of the out of the way New York State Campgrounds. Since we started using Base Camp it has helped to improve our camping experience by showing us what the site looks like. You put a cancelation notification for me and I try to book it and it says I can't??? Why would you put it in my site and not let me book it???? Poor service remove it if it's booked! Now you want more money to look at all cancelations? Aweful!

Popular sites can be rebooked very quickly, so checking the timestamp and acting fast makes a big difference.

This website gives you an insight into what the majority of campsites look like before you book. There are usually many pictures for each site at all different angles, Park map and amenities. The filters for size of sight and which campground you’re interested in is in valuable.

We have been paid subscribers for 2 years now and consider it an essential and integral part of our camping trip planning. We have a trailer and have been in tight, uneven, rocky sites before, where we would have a hard time backing up, getting out (because of trees) or trying to level the camper, there are times we just wanted to leave. This is an amazing resource for grabbing campsites throughout NYS. It is great to be able to filter for what you need when you need it. We are trying to introduce toddlers to the joys of camping before we take them into the deep woods. The ability to find a level-ish water access site with shallow quiet water and and lots of boulders for climbing and not too close to the road just by looking at photos has been so helpful! The pictures are of high quality and are exactly what you need to see before booking. I recommend this website to everyone I know (probably not the best idea to add competitors, sorry all)!

BaseCamp has become an integral part of my camping trip planning. We have a large 5th wheel and there are definitely sites that would not accommodate our trailer due to various obstacles. My only issue is the age of some of the photos, but I can understand the difficulties of visiting and photographing all the campgrounds. Truly appreciate what the site has to offer and the new 9 month booking buddy has been a great addition. We recommend the site to many other campers if they haven't used it or know about it.

I've Been camping relatively short time (11 years) compared to many. The extensive multi angle pictures are a huge help when having to plan the approach and entry into a chosen site. Base camp, offers up to 17 different views..
The big plus for me is that Reserve America is an absolute nightmare to navigate, and pin point a favorite camp ground, favorite campsite, and a specific date and get it all laser aimed at 9:00 AM nine months in advance. Hundreds of NY campers doing the same thing at the same time 8:59:59!! Base camp is a very worthwhile tool. I really like the 9 month look feature. Well worth the annual fee!

Been a member for a few years now. Usually go camping 2 times a year. Sometimes visit different and new places and use camp photos to help choose the right site. This is a great resource for those that want to see the campsite they want before they choose. One or two improvements I would love to see in the future would be a rough site plan with dimensions sort of like a floorplan to a house so you can see not only how deep the site is but width too. Also would like to get a rating on how flat the sites are. I've been to some campgrounds where the sites were really off camber and made it hard to set up tables and cook. Overall this is a wonderful resource!

With having a kid who visits his dad out of state, booking 9 months in advance is not easy. However base camp has made it so much easier to book a site on the water. We’re not picky where we go necessarily, as long as we have a water site. So thanks so much for making it easy to get our trips scheduled.

We are a retired couple and are able to camp just about any time the campgrounds are open. So far we have 7 weeks of camping for the 2024 season. Base Camp makes it so easy to reserve the sites we want. The only complaint I have is trying to navigate through the CampBot, it never brings me to a spot that will answer my question.

Love the site! Have used it for years and it helps when trying a new site in the campgrounds. We always used to take day trips thru campgrounds to check sites( we still do occasionally) this is so much easier! I tell everyone who camps it's worth the $ for the ease!!!!

BaseCamp has become an integral part of my camping trip planning. We have a large 5th wheel and there are definitely sites that would not accommodate our trailer due to various obstacles. My only issue is the age of some of the photos, but I can understand the difficulties of visiting and photographing all the campgrounds. Truly appreciate what the site has to offer and the new 9 month booking buddy has been a great addition. We recommend the site to many other campers if they haven't used it or know about it.

Basecamp give me the ability to view potential campsites and read objective statements to help guide me in the selection process. I especially like the recent 9 Months Out Booking Buddy addition. I no longer have to page through daily updates on Reserve America to find future site availability and constantly update my notes. The membership fee is peanuts for what you get in benefits.

We found this site a few years ago and have used it ever since to find every reservation we’ve had. We love using the pictures Dave shares to make sure our camper will fit(trees,close to the road, waterfront/not). Dave has done an amazing job making everything so accessible at a very reasonable rate! We have even met him along the way at one of the campgrounds we booked using his site! I recommend it to everyone I know! We will be basecamp subscribers for the rest of our camping time! Thank you for everything you do!!

I’ve been a basecamp member for a few years now. Using the website years prior. I truly couldn’t book a site without it. Having the ability to sift through multiple photos of just one site allows me to make sure that the site is suitable and safe for my kids. Thanks Dave for all you do!

I love seeing photos of individual campsites at campgrounds. This helps me plan where to stay. I’ve ventured to a few "new to me places" because of it. The new booking buddy feature has saved me time as I can see what sites will be open to try to book. No more going through various campgrounds etc to make a list like I’ve done in the past. All of Dave’s hard work photographing each campsite with multiple photos is so helpful in planning a camping trip. Being able to make a list of your favorite campgrounds is awesome. Then being able to save your favorite sites in each is even better. Not only are the multiple photos amazing, it really makes deciding on a site so much easier.

I've Been camping relatively short time (11 years) compared to many. The extensive multi angle pictures are a huge help when having to plan the approach and entry into a chosen site. Base camp, offers up to 17 different views..
The big plus for me is that Reserve America is an absolute nightmare to navigate, and pin point a favorite camp ground, favorite campsite, and a specific date and get it all laser aimed at 9:00 AM nine months in advance. Hundreds of NY campers doing the same thing at the same time 8:59:59!! Base camp is a very worthwhile tool. I really like the 9 month look feature. Well worth the annual fee!

I love all of the photos and have been a customer for many years but I am very disappointed that you now charge extra for the cancellation sites.
Please consider changing that feature back to the way you had it.

Love Basecamp. Just recently joined and have already used the photos to book two upcoming camping trips. Have not had the chance to try any of the other features offered yet, but as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words

Used to love this site used it daily. Was awesome because I don’t do Facebook, I could see cancellations and take advantage of them. This year I was charged $27.00 and got basically nothing. This site is now useless to a person who isn’t on social media. Unable to even see any cancellations let alone book them. Very sad

Unfortunately, that feature is no longer available due to factors outside our control. BaseCamp continues to focus on helping campers choose the right site with detailed photos and planning tools.
I appreciate your support over the years and have fully refunded your $27.

Not sure what happened to my base pro portion of my subscription. But, I was getting all the cancellation information and then I renewed my subscription. After that, basecamp pro wasn’t available anymore, it’s been disabled, and I can’t get any info out this site anymore. Basically, I have first tier membership now with no way of accessing cancellation notices anymore. Waste of $27…

You put a cancelation notification for me and I try to book it and it says I can't??? Why would you put it in my site and not let me book it???? Poor service remove it if it's booked! Now you want more money to look at all cancelations? Aweful!

These are cancellation alerts, not live availability.
Popular sites can be rebooked very quickly, so checking the timestamp and acting fast makes a big difference.
