I really like the photos of the sites and I appreciate that the site has allowed me to reserve preferred sites over the past years that I have been using it. I was a promoter of your site at $27 especially for the cancellation value so it is pretty disappointing that the full cancellation service is an additional fee. The free access provided with the basic subscription is pretty useless in my opinion.

Dave, Your site; insights, tips, cancellation notifications & campsite photos continue to blow us away! 3 years ago, as new campers finding any available site seemed overwhelming, impossible. I was regretting our decision to purchase a camper for weekend getaways/exploring. That day, at the dentist, when CampADK was recommended to me was the luckiest of all days! So many perfect, waterside sites; never a disappointment, no stress as to what we are driving into. My family has been using this service for the past five years and have found it invaluable to our camping experience. The amount of pictures there are four a site really gives you the feel of seeing it before you book it which is something we would be lost without. Generally we book nine months out so we aren't hunting the cancellation page too much, but when we have used it it's been an extremely helpful tool to get a great site on short notice. Without this site and service, camping would taking a drastic decline in the Adirondack region. I feel extremely lucky and privileged to have access to such a comprehensive and useful tool to make my camping experience the best to can be.

CampAdk/Basecamp has allowed me to more easily make informed booking choices when It comes to NYS public campgrounds. Being Able to see photos of the exact site you are booking is very helpful . One of my favorite features is the Cancellation notifications! This Feature has allowed me to stay at the parks that always get booked up 9 months in advance.
All in all, this service has allowed me to save money by allowing me to Stay at only NYS parks . it really makes the process easier!

My wife and I enjoy Base Camp a great deal, We have a 35 foot motorhome and we love to camp in many of the out of the way New York State Campgrounds. Since we started using Base Camp it has helped to improve our camping experience by showing us what the site looks like. You put a cancelation notification for me and I try to book it and it says I can't??? Why would you put it in my site and not let me book it???? Poor service remove it if it's booked! Now you want more money to look at all cancelations? Aweful!

It seems there might be some misunderstanding about how our system operates. The feature you’re referring to is a free bonus that provides cancellation alerts. However, these alerts are not real-time updates on site availability. If you’re reviewing cancellations that occurred a few hours ago, it’s more than likely those sites have already been rebooked.
We recommend checking the timestamp on each cancellation alert to understand when it was generated. Popular sites tend to get rebooked quickly, so acting fast is key. Using our cancellation filters effectively can significantly improve your chances of securing a site, as many other users have experienced.
Please note that when a site is canceled, it might be added to another user’s cart, rebooked, or even dropped again later. This process can repeat multiple times. For this reason, we don’t remove cancellations from the list. These alerts are meant to show cancellation activity in the last 24 hours rather than real-time availability, giving users insight into the daily trends.

This website gives you an insight into what the majority of campsites look like before you book. There are usually many pictures for each site at all different angles, Park map and amenities. The filters for size of sight and which campground you’re interested in is in valuable.

I am a charter member of Base Camp. The subscription has saved me countless hours of researching a site I may have been unfamiliar with. Gone are the old days of driving to a campground to check out whether it will fit my rig, if it's level or what kind of fireplace or waterfront it has. I can do so without leaving my home. More pictures per site, per campground than any other website guaranteed. I am able to pick sites at campgrounds I have never been to before with the confidence of knowing what to expect. I have picked up many cancellations using the cancellation alert page. Didn't get your site in the 9 month booking window through RA? No worries. When the site or another one at your favorite campground becomes available, you'll be one of, if not the first to know about it. If you are on the fence, get off it and join. You won't be disappointed.

I've been able to reserve wonderful spots off Basecamp. The only thing that ticks me off is when another individual only takes part of cancellation and it still shows as a the full cancellation instead of what's left.

After the alert is created a site can get scooped up at any time, reappear because someone abandoned their cart and often only some dates are taken. Rather than constantly trying to keep up with the aftermath of a cancellation BaseCamp focuses on finding new cancellations to alert members.

We have been paid subscribers for 2 years now and consider it an essential and integral part of our camping trip planning. We saw a recommendation for this website years ago and now recommend it to others. At first we wanted to see pictures of the sites, and this webpage is amazing for that purpose - in fact that is what I am currently doing. Shortly after we had a membership, we became very dependent on the cancellation notices to find a camping site because there were all booked. For quite at least a couples of years we found incredible waterfront sites that were cancellations. if not for this website, we may have had to skip camping for the season. I love to paddleboard and canoe. The pictures and description of the site give great information on how easy it is to access those from your site. We absolutely recommend this website!

I did not think that I would appreciate the resources enough to warrant the yearly cost, but I was absolutely wrong!
I have thoroughly enjoyed the ability to look at photos of each campsite, comparing them for size, level-ness, proximity to water and resources, etc. That alone would probably be enough to justify spending the membership money, but the cancellation opportunities with filters put it over the top.
We have camped at some of the most beautiful lakeside sites this summer, all thanks to the cancellation notices (and regular checking of the site!) Even without the implementation of a notification system (which may be in the works!) the NY State Campsite Photos cancellation page shows me in nearly-real-time when sites matching my chosen criteria become available - allowing me to check ReserveAmerica, see nearby/neighboring sites, views and make an immediate decision if it meets my timing needs!
Well worth the money, and the personalized support from the site owner has been top-notch. If you're on the fence about joining, take the plunge. It's the cost of one night camping, and you will make that investment back many times over when you think of how much you'll be enjoying a lakeside site next summer. <3

After reviewing your account, it appears that you've used BaseCamp frequently over the past two months and were only required to log in twice. With the 'Remember Me' option enabled, you should only need to log in again after 30 days of inactivity.
If the login issue is happening on Reserve America, which we redirect to for reservations, unfortunately, we have no control over their login settings, and they do require re-login after 20 minutes of inactivity. We hope this helps clarify the situation, but if you’re still having trouble, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

We camp a lot during camping season and I have to say, this site have helped us a lot. We have a trailer and have been in tight, uneven, rocky sites before, where we would have a hard time backing up, getting out (because of trees) or trying to level the camper, there are times we just wanted to leave. This site has been a life safer. We visit Fish Creek as a family and require 3-6 sites every year. Until Dave created this site we have always been scattered. The array of photos that Basecamp provides allows us to understand whether or not the site will meet our needs...from waterfront proximity, tree obstructions, levelness, size, etc...it is priceless. Prior to Basecamp, we would rely on the Reserve America site barebones information, which led to much disappointment and frustration when arriving at the site. This is an amazing resource for grabbing campsites throughout NYS. It is great to be able to filter for what you need when you need it. We are trying to introduce toddlers to the joys of camping before we take them into the deep woods. We also appreciate the great photos of the sites. We bring a truck camper that needs to clear a 13 feet height restriction. So it’s important that a site doesn’t have low branches. BaseCamp is the perfect tool for picking up prime sites on the secondary market. For almost next to nothing, you can zero on campgrounds, and view excellent photos and descriptions of a majority of NY State campsites. You can also set filters and monitor the availability of your favorites. It's no secret that a lot of campers will reserve a site for 2 weeks, then later, cast off unwanted days for whatever reason. With BaseCamp, when that site availability pops up, you can simply click on the Book Cancellation button, and it will take you over to the reservation site. What's there not to love about this? It's a great tool.

I used to think that snagging a water site at a state campground was only for the lucky few who were quick on a keyboard. Since I discovered Basecamp, I only camp on premium water sites now. I never realized how many sites get cancelled! As an added benefit, I discovered new campgrounds to try and the multitude of great photos takes the guesswork out of choosing the right spot for our camper. We've been Basecamp members for 2 years now and it has been a valuable tool for us in grabbing great sites! Not only have we used the photos to help us decide between sites, we have used the cancellation feature to help us upgrade to a water site at the last minute. Basecamp has also been helpful in adding days to a stay that we already had booked when we found that friends would be camping in the same park. We were hoping for a cancelation nearby, but ended up adding a few days to the site we were already booked on! I've been making reservations at local campgrounds for over 30 years and in two seasons that I've been a base camp member I have gotten prime sites including water sites that I've never been able to get. The booking buddy is amazing and will let you know exactly what's opening in nine months time. Getting first dibs on the cancellations is awesome because I can pick up great sites for a night here or there all throughout the season. I don't want him to raise the price but I'm telling you it's worth much more than what he charges. !!

BaseCamp has become an integral part of my camping trip planning. We have a large 5th wheel and there are definitely sites that would not accommodate our trailer due to various obstacles. My only issue is the age of some of the photos, but I can understand the difficulties of visiting and photographing all the campgrounds. Truly appreciate what the site has to offer and the new 9 month booking buddy has been a great addition. We recommend the site to many other campers if they haven't used it or know about it.

Best money I ever spent on a membership! Camp ADK has let me discover campgrounds in NYS that I never would have visited; the photos alone are worth the cost but wait - there's more! I love having the ability to "favorite" campsites and have it stored for easy access. The cancellations updated constantly are sometimes the ONLY way to get certain waterfront campsites, so it's part of my daily routine, and it introduced me to wonderful campgrounds and campsites. The 9 month booking buddy is a newer feature and it is awesome - no more updating my excel spreadsheet with dates to attempt a booking - Dave and Camp ADK does it for us! He even thought to put the 9 month booking for a few days out so you can "scout" to see if there is any site of interest coming up soon.

I am glad I joined Basecamp for several reasons. The many photos allow us to get a site that works for my entire family. Our kids and grandkids share our site, so we can picture where their tent will go. Also, the cancellation list is perfect for when we want to camp late September or October. We have gotten several sites that way. I have camped at FC for 65 years, and the new booking buddy will save me HOURS of work to prepare for the reservation day(s). I've Been camping relatively short time (11 years) compared to many. The extensive multi angle pictures are a huge help when having to plan the approach and entry into a chosen site. Base camp, offers up to 17 different views..
The big plus for me is that Reserve America is an absolute nightmare to navigate, and pin point a favorite camp ground, favorite campsite, and a specific date and get it all laser aimed at 9:00 AM nine months in advance. Hundreds of NY campers doing the same thing at the same time 8:59:59!! Base camp is a very worthwhile tool. I really like the 9 month look feature. Well worth the annual fee!

We camp in the NYS Parks a lot in the summer with a group of 4-5 other families. We try to book 9 mo in advance on Reserve America but it’s getting harder and harder to get sites. I joined Basecamp from the very beginning and have been able to snag sites that were originally booked but got cancelled. Some are great sites. Some are not so great. I love being able to view Dave’s photos to see what sites look like.

The amount of pictures there are four a site really gives you the feel of seeing it before you book it which is something we would be lost without. I am a charter member of Base Camp. The subscription has saved me countless hours of researching a site I may have been unfamiliar with. Gone are the old days of driving to a campground to check out whether it will fit my rig, if it's level or what kind of fireplace or waterfront it has. I can do so without leaving my home. More pictures per site, per campground than any other website guaranteed. I am able to pick sites at campgrounds I have never been to before with the confidence of knowing what to expect. I have picked up many cancellations using the cancellation alert page. Didn't get your site in the 9 month booking window through RA? No worries. When the site or another one at your favorite campground becomes available, you'll be one of, if not the first to know about it. If you are on the fence, get off it and join. You won't be disappointed.

I've been able to reserve wonderful spots off Basecamp. The only thing that ticks me off is when another individual only takes part of cancellation and it still shows as a the full cancellation instead of what's left.

After the alert is created a site can get scooped up at any time, reappear because someone abandoned their cart and often only some dates are taken. Rather than constantly trying to keep up with the aftermath of a cancellation BaseCamp focuses on finding new cancellations to alert members.

We saw a recommendation for this website years ago and now recommend it to others. At first we wanted to see pictures of the sites, and this webpage is amazing for that purpose - in fact that is what I am currently doing. Shortly after we had a membership, we became very dependent on the cancellation notices to find a camping site because there were all booked. For quite at least a couples of years we found incredible waterfront sites that were cancellations. if not for this website, we may have had to skip camping for the season. I did not think that I would appreciate the resources enough to warrant the yearly cost, but I was absolutely wrong!
I have thoroughly enjoyed the ability to look at photos of each campsite, comparing them for size, level-ness, proximity to water and resources, etc. That alone would probably be enough to justify spending the membership money, but the cancellation opportunities with filters put it over the top.
We have camped at some of the most beautiful lakeside sites this summer, all thanks to the cancellation notices (and regular checking of the site!) Even without the implementation of a notification system (which may be in the works!) the NY State Campsite Photos cancellation page shows me in nearly-real-time when sites matching my chosen criteria become available - allowing me to check ReserveAmerica, see nearby/neighboring sites, views and make an immediate decision if it meets my timing needs!
Well worth the money, and the personalized support from the site owner has been top-notch. If you're on the fence about joining, take the plunge. It's the cost of one night camping, and you will make that investment back many times over when you think of how much you'll be enjoying a lakeside site next summer. <3

Dave has done an amazing job with all of the individual site photo's which make our hunt for amazing sites just a little easier. We camp a lot during camping season and I have to say, this site have helped us a lot. We have a trailer and have been in tight, uneven, rocky sites before, where we would have a hard time backing up, getting out (because of trees) or trying to level the camper, there are times we just wanted to leave. Now I never book a site without looking at the pictures in all angles first. So worth it.

This site has been a life safer. We visit Fish Creek as a family and require 3-6 sites every year. Until Dave created this site we have always been scattered. The array of photos that Basecamp provides allows us to understand whether or not the site will meet our needs...from waterfront proximity, tree obstructions, levelness, size, etc...it is priceless. Prior to Basecamp, we would rely on the Reserve America site barebones information, which led to much disappointment and frustration when arriving at the site. This is an amazing resource for grabbing campsites throughout NYS. It is great to be able to filter for what you need when you need it. We are trying to introduce toddlers to the joys of camping before we take them into the deep woods. The ability to find a level-ish water access site with shallow quiet water and and lots of boulders for climbing and not too close to the road just by looking at photos has been so helpful! We also appreciate the great photos of the sites. We bring a truck camper that needs to clear a 13 feet height restriction. So it’s important that a site doesn’t have low branches. BaseCamp is the perfect tool for picking up prime sites on the secondary market. For almost next to nothing, you can zero on campgrounds, and view excellent photos and descriptions of a majority of NY State campsites. You can also set filters and monitor the availability of your favorites. It's no secret that a lot of campers will reserve a site for 2 weeks, then later, cast off unwanted days for whatever reason. With BaseCamp, when that site availability pops up, you can simply click on the Book Cancellation button, and it will take you over to the reservation site. What's there not to love about this? It's a great tool.

I used to think that snagging a water site at a state campground was only for the lucky few who were quick on a keyboard. Since I discovered Basecamp, I only camp on premium water sites now. I never realized how many sites get cancelled! We've been Basecamp members for 2 years now and it has been a valuable tool for us in grabbing great sites! Not only have we used the photos to help us decide between sites, we have used the cancellation feature to help us upgrade to a water site at the last minute. Basecamp has also been helpful in adding days to a stay that we already had booked when we found that friends would be camping in the same park. We were hoping for a cancelation nearby, but ended up adding a few days to the site we were already booked on! Considering that a yearly membership is about the price of a one night stay, I'd say it's a pretty great investment if you spend any time at our NYS Campgrounds.

BaseCamp has become an integral part of my camping trip planning. We have a large 5th wheel and there are definitely sites that would not accommodate our trailer due to various obstacles. My only issue is the age of some of the photos, but I can understand the difficulties of visiting and photographing all the campgrounds. Truly appreciate what the site has to offer and the new 9 month booking buddy has been a great addition. We recommend the site to many other campers if they haven't used it or know about it.

Best money I ever spent on a membership! Camp ADK has let me discover campgrounds in NYS that I never would have visited; the photos alone are worth the cost but wait - there's more! I love having the ability to "favorite" campsites and have it stored for easy access. The cancellations updated constantly are sometimes the ONLY way to get certain waterfront campsites, so it's part of my daily routine, and it introduced me to wonderful campgrounds and campsites. The 9 month booking buddy is a newer feature and it is awesome - no more updating my excel spreadsheet with dates to attempt a booking - Dave and Camp ADK does it for us! He even thought to put the 9 month booking for a few days out so you can "scout" to see if there is any site of interest coming up soon.

I am glad I joined Basecamp for several reasons. The many photos allow us to get a site that works for my entire family. Our kids and grandkids share our site, so we can picture where their tent will go. Also, the cancellation list is perfect for when we want to camp late September or October. We have gotten several sites that way. I have camped at FC for 65 years, and the new booking buddy will save me HOURS of work to prepare for the reservation day(s). The yearly cost is about what we pay for a day of camping.

I've Been camping relatively short time (11 years) compared to many. The extensive multi angle pictures are a huge help when having to plan the approach and entry into a chosen site. Base camp, offers up to 17 different views..
The big plus for me is that Reserve America is an absolute nightmare to navigate, and pin point a favorite camp ground, favorite campsite, and a specific date and get it all laser aimed at 9:00 AM nine months in advance. Hundreds of NY campers doing the same thing at the same time 8:59:59!! Base camp is a very worthwhile tool. I really like the 9 month look feature. Well worth the annual fee!

Thank you for your feedback! We understand how repeated logins can be frustrating. After reviewing your account, it appears that you've used BaseCamp frequently over the past two months and were only required to log in twice. With the 'Remember Me' option enabled, you should only need to log in again after 30 days of inactivity.
If the login issue is happening on Reserve America, which we redirect to for reservations, unfortunately, we have no control over their login settings, and they do require re-login after 20 minutes of inactivity. We hope this helps clarify the situation, but if you’re still having trouble, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Love Basecamp. Just recently joined and have already used the photos to book two upcoming camping trips. Have not had the chance to try any of the other features offered yet, but as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words

We camp in the NYS Parks a lot in the summer with a group of 4-5 other families. We try to book 9 mo in advance on Reserve America but it’s getting harder and harder to get sites. I joined Basecamp from the very beginning and have been able to snag sites that were originally booked but got cancelled. Some are great sites. Some are not so great. I love being able to view Dave’s photos to see what sites look like.

I really like the photos of the sites and I appreciate that the site has allowed me to reserve preferred sites over the past years that I have been using it. I was a promoter of your site at $27 especially for the cancellation value so it is pretty disappointing that the full cancellation service is an additional fee. The free access provided with the basic subscription is pretty useless in my opinion.

How can you list sites as Labor Day Weekend when the weekend dates are Reserved???!!! Misleading and disappointing to say the least!!! Not one site listed as Labor Day Weekend as a cancellation is available for this weekend!

You put a cancelation notification for me and I try to book it and it says I can't??? Why would you put it in my site and not let me book it???? Poor service remove it if it's booked! Now you want more money to look at all cancelations? Aweful!

However, these alerts are not real-time updates on site availability. If you’re reviewing cancellations that occurred a few hours ago, it’s more than likely those sites have already been rebooked.
We recommend checking the timestamp on each cancellation alert to understand when it was generated. Popular sites tend to get rebooked quickly, so acting fast is key. Using our cancellation filters effectively can significantly improve your chances of securing a site, as many other users have experienced.
Please note that when a site is canceled, it might be added to another user’s cart, rebooked, or even dropped again later. This process can repeat multiple times. For this reason, we don’t remove cancellations from the list. These alerts are meant to show cancellation activity in the last 24 hours rather than real-time availability, giving users insight into the daily trends.

Please bring the old format back for cancellations. we have been depending on these as we work weekdays and it is difficult to find a good site on weekends. The new format was difficult to navigate.

Additional features are forthcoming as well that will take our ultimate Cancellation Alert features to the next level! Checking your account I see that you haven't setup any cancellation filters to tell BaseCamp what cancellations you are looking for which is why you don't see any cancellations.

I do not like the new format. It doesn’t give me the option of seeing cancellations for all NYS campgrounds. In addition it wouldn’t accept all my information re: filters We have been base camp users for years. The other system was much easier to navigate.
